Give Thanks For God's Great Love
Read the following story of how God changes lives because of His great love! While attending a women's retreat last month a new and special friend shared her story with me. She was overflowing with such joy as she told me how God restored her family. Although much of her story was "in the making" prior to the retreat, the zeal in which she expressed it was as fervent as if it had just happened! MY NEW "GOLD" FRIEND was a surprise to me! I thought this may inspire you to be grateful for your friends. Seek out some new friends; perhaps they will become "gold" to you, also. Above all, be a friend! -CynthiaMY NEW "GOLD" FRIEND
The newspaper article read, "Friends can carry you up life's mountains." It explained how the value of having friend-to-friend sessions on a regular basis encouraged long and healthy living. What treasures await friendships that are found in Christ!
Just a few weeks ago, I met Cynthia Vela, a guest speaker at our annual women's retreat. Frankly, since I was not in the mood for the old retreat, I almost canceled. This impatient attitude (sometimes up and sometimes down attitude) of mine waiting for change was just taking me deep in the dumps! I even thought that maybe I would stay there.
Thank God I got out of the dumps and went to the retreat! What an inspiring surprise God had planned! I recall a wise saying, "New friends are silver, but old friends are like gold." This weekend, my new friend, Cynthia, went from silver to gold in just two days at our retreat. I appreciated her warm and loving personality and our hearts were knit by His love.
What enlightening few days! The Lord led many of us into an unbelievable time of honesty and openness of hearts. Only the Spirit of God could do such a deep hearted work. His great love and abundant grace healed AND sealed our hearts.
Later in conversation, Cynthia told me I was a cheerleader for Jesus. She encouraged me to share my story in this newsletter. Wow! I was overjoyed that she believed that I had something to share of value. I rejoice in this small beginning. The freedom I have has delivered me from the lowest hell. My mess has now become a message for others!
Thank you Cynthia for inviting me to share my story during this warm Thanksgiving season. You have definitely restored joy and hope to my journey up the mountain!
Thank you, my GOLD friend!
With love,
Gloria
GIVING THANKS FOR GOD'S GREAT LOVE
As I share my personal story, I hope you will give thanks to God for His great love. Although you may not have a story identical to mine, you do have a story. Your story that can be changed by His love. Believe it and begin to thank Him!
Nearly nine years ago, my beautiful daughter-in-law withdrew from our dysfunctional relationship. As a result, I lost my closeness to my beloved granddaughters. This devastating separation, lasting for 4 years, drove me to dig deep into my heart. I realized that a religious mask I had been wearing for over forty years needed to be removed.
Now, I rejoice with joy unspeakable as this once heart-breaking pain took me from religion to a relationship with my loving Heavenly Father. No longer was I a servant of God trying to obey all the rules to earn the right to become a daughter of God, but I realize I truly became a daughter of God by faith in the finished work of the Cross. I chose to be a servant by His great love!
In the past, my focus was on my performance and not on the "Performer"! He is the one who loved me first! Now, all that I do for Him is a response to His great love! I have the freedom and the power to win over sin at last!
I love the song, "Jesus Loves Me This I Know". I used to think that He loved everyone else but me. I rejoice because I know He does love me! A good friend gave me a plaque with a bit of a different twist to that song. Displayed in my home, the plaque reads, "Jesus knows me, this I love." All who read it are blessed!
My heart change is best portrayed in the "dead dog" attitude of crippled Mephibosheth, son of Jonathan who was a beloved friend of David. (II Samuel 9) King David's covenant promise to Jonathan was to care for his entire family. Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth, received the blessing of this covenant.
To make good on this promise, Mephibosheth was brought from Lodebar to the King David's palace to dine at the King's table forever. Crippled Mephibosheth thought he could do no works of any value for the King, so his first response was, "I am as a dead dog." King David quickly responded to Mephibosheth and told him the invitation had been extended to him not because of how well he could perform but because of who he was! He was born out of a covenant of love! What an amazing story!
In my life, I now focus on who I am in Christ and my true identity is in Him! I thank God that I no longer live in Lodebar, but I dine at the table of the King's table. The King of Kings! 24/7! Forever! Praise be to God! I will continue to declare who He is and who I am in Him!
Truly, the restoration of my family has been a testimony of great joy. Listening to others and learning is a new experience for me. Sincere laughter is coming from by heart. I have even my comedian (not by profession) husband in what seems to be a stand-up comedy. In between the comedy, my husband has had three minor surgeries. I can love him to wellness, not with a religious, self-righteous, rebuking spirit as before, but with God's great love pouring from my heart. My faith is focused on a faithful God! My trust is in a very trust-worthy God! It's all about His strength, His power and His anointing that worked in His beloved vessel! I had to learn I was His beloved.
Thank you for that wonderful "glory story" of what God has done in your life and the lives of those you love! I know your story has encouraged many to take an "attitude check" in who we are and what we do!
New Members - September 2009
They've completed Discover Destiny, our 3 week membership course, and believe this is the church home God has placed them in. We sincerely believe in the biblical teaching that covenant membership in a local church is important for every believer and we are grateful to God for adding these individuals to Destiny.
It's our prayer and our goal to see each of these individuals find their place at Destiny both relationally and in service to God. The pastors have had an opportunity to meet with each of them to discover their unique stories. God has truly blessed us with some remarkable people that we are pleased to call friends. Our new brothers and sisters in Christ!
In the coming months and years we anticipate God using these individuals in miraculous ways. We believe God has given each Christian spiritual gifts and called each member of Destiny to minister. We would like to encourage all the members of Destiny, as well as, ministry department leaders to reach out to these new friends. Let's show ourselves friendly and help them find a place to serve in the church.
You do such a wonderful job of making Destiny a loving, caring, giving place. Let's keep up the great work we're doing to the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.

Reflections On Daniel Study
We too live in the lap of luxury. Yes, our own Babylon. We can learn from Daniel how to live an uncompromising life dedicated to the most High God.
Isaiah penned it well, "I am and there is none other besides me",Is. 47:10 speaking of the Babylonian attitude, self encompassing, all about me. Yet, God's ways are higher than us. It's about HIM. All glory goes to Him. He wouldn't share it with king Nebuchadnezzar. He enables us to go through the fire. He never leaves us. We walk through the fire without smelling like the fire. Bondages are burned off. He knows where and when to draw the line. He knows and He cares about us.
Soon we will start the second set of six weeks. Join us as we study eschatology. Oh, those end time prophecies are always exciting. We start at 9:30 AM or 7:00 PM on Thursdays.

The Prize or the Pennies
As “girls on the go” and women who are reaching for the prize of the high calling of God in our lives, we continually have to be careful of the distractions that will so often divert our eyes from the prize. In Sunday school a couple of weeks ago I watched this scenario unfold right before me that confirmed that truth. A sandbox had been set up that had ping pong balls with the scripture memory verse on them. The children were to retrieve the balls and put them in order to win the “big prize.” I warned them not to get distracted because also buried in the sand were pennies and lifesavers.
Eli is 5 going on 6 years old and he was ready!! On your mark, get set, go! Sand is flying everywhere and treasures began to surface. Eli is trying so hard to stay focused on the goal to win the “big prize” but the pennies were just too great a temptation. In his sandy hands he gripped several pennies -- even though right in front of him were ping pong balls. He wasn’t willing to lay down the pennies to pick up the balls.
As I witnessed this, I had to begin to question, “Lord, how many times have I taken my eyes off the prize of the high calling that you have for me, and settled for the pennies.”
What’s in our hands? Worry over our health, stress from lack of finances, marriages that need adjusting? God is calling us to lay them down at His feet. He alone is able to help us with our “pennies” if we keep our eyes on Him. Don’t settle for anything less than His best for you.

It's True! You Are God's Favorite!
"If you are saved then you are favored. You are surrounded with His favor."
"To be accepted by God is to be highly favored."
"Because of His favor our prayers are answered."
"His Word is proof of His favor."
As a new Christian, one women prayed for someone to teach her about the Lord. Now, others have learned from her because her life is testimony of God's favor. She is blessed to be a blessing.
Sharing her story, a young teen girl spoke of God's favor. She and others needed funds for camp. When given funds for camp, she actually preferred someone else in greater need to take the funds given to her. Placing the need of another above her own, honored the Lord. In an unexpected way, camp funds were given for this young teen whose hope to attend camp became a reality. Along with others, she was able to attend camp because of His favor!
"The favor of God had a bargain for us at the grocery store! Food needed for an upcoming outreach was less than half the price of the original cost."
Another women shared the joy of knowing of her mother's salvation. Prior to her mother's death, her mother's written words of praise to the Lord for His great love and salvation were found in a book. Not aware of her mother's salvation, this delighted daughter glorified God when she found these beautiful writings as they were an assurance of her mother's place in eternity.
"God's favor will make changes to situations and even in the hearts of staff at the work place for my benefit and His glory!" said one women who had faced conflict at work.
"The favor of the Lord has made a way for us to help others in need as He has opened doors for us to feed and clothe orphaned children in Mexico."
A woman who learned that trusting God was vital to victorious living said,"Sometimes the favor of God is not quickly identified and may seem to appear as a negative situation. Sometimes we allow ourselves to be surrounded by situations rather than His promises.
We must trust God and believe that His favor surrounds us like a shield. Rejoice! He is forever for us!"
Psalm 5:11,12
"But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You.
Let them ever shout for joy because you defend them.
Let those also who love your name be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord will bless the righteous;
With favor you will surround them like a shield."
We also enjoyed some favorite salads brought by the Simply Beautiful women. From among the tossed greens, veggie dips, and delicious fruit salads, there was one salad that earned the Simply Beautiful Summer Salad Award! The recipe is yours to enjoy compliments of Janie Zepeda. Thank you Janie for sharing the recipe even though you do not claim it to be a Zepeda orginal. You DID make it famous with all of us who enjoyed it! We'll call it "Z Broccoli Summer Salad"!

Crocodile Dock VBS 2009 Video
Vacation Bible School was a memorable time where children learned to trust God and fear not! They went on a journey through the story of Moses and the Isrealites. Because God always delivered these people of the Bible they now know God will always deliver them. Gathering Bible points, verses, songs, and God sightings along the way have proved to be life changing. We are already getting reports of the children sharing their faith with others.
Thank you to all those who volunteered, prayed, brought children, or contributed to this outreach. God blessed your efforts and I know he will bless you as well for your service. Praise God for his grace on Crocodile Dock! PHOTOS

Turn Your World Upside Down
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who contributed to Crocodile Dock VBS 2009. Just a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to speak to the congregation on a Sunday morning on the topic of witnessing for Christ in a message entitled "Turn Your World Upside Down". The response was overwhelming as we partnered together to pray for VBS, invite families, volunteer and give.To date we have the volunteers we need, over 140 children are preregistered, and our financial goal was met. We needed $3,000 and nearly $4,000 was pledged and 95% of the pledges have come in. I want to commend you for responding to God's Word and His voice to make these sacrifices. God is certainly going to bless you and he's going to be glorified as many children come to Jesus.

Father Son Outing 2009
The Father Son Outing was a blast! Swimming, basketball, tennis, burgers, lots of sun, and fellowship. We had some messy games with sons feeding their fathers a high energy drink from a bottle and banana baby food blind folded. It was a sloppy mess! Thank God for the pool to wash off. Ted Thevaos, our children's pastor, spoke a message on fathers setting a Christ-like example of humble servanthood. PHOTOS!
Mother and Daughter Breakfast 2009
Ladies, we were blessed to have Liz Pulliam share what God had put on her heart. Relationships with either our mother, or our daughter was the topic. Liz spoke from experience. The hurt many must live with runs deep and surfaces through emotional outbursts, it follows the poor example set in early childhood. Examples threaded their way amply into her portrayal of what these relationships were not supposed to be and yet are life for many.

Forgiveness is the key to open the door for more of God's grace and healing. We have all experienced eroded or dashed hopes. Forgiveness is the first step forward out of the miry pit of discouragement, sadness, and depression. You are forgiven! God designed us to sit in heavenly places. His plans for us, for you, are for good. Liz, thank you, our friend and sister. You are awesome in presenting the Word! PHOTOS!

Loving and Leading Our Children
Has the busyness of life made you feel weary? Is what you're going through undesirable or uncomfortable? Have you ever found it tough to trust God? We all have. The good news is there's hope. You and your family will be better on the other side of your trial. The Christian life is all about trusting God through the seasons he brings us through to make us more like him and to glorify himself. This is how he loves us, provides for us, heals us, saves us, and in essence shares life with us. He's the perfect Father or parent we all desire to be like. God's been so gracious to remind me lately that even though times are undesirable and uncomfortable, ultimately his purpose will be accomplished and I'll be better for it. During our busy season of remodeling our new home and surviving a chimney fire, God has been faithful to keep us safe and restore everything that was lost and more. But needless to say life has been busy, busy, busy. One morning as I began to go to God for wisdom on how to resolve a conflict between some precious kids in the children's ministry, the Lord began to direct my heart closer to home. For some reason the Holy Spirit wouldn't let me just easily dismiss this conflict that happened between several children and now was common knowledge to the parents involved. It wasn't a big deal I thought in one moment and in the next I desired to see my children and the children of Destiny respond better next time. So I guess it was a big deal. Would this conflict be resolved if I just dismissed it with assumptions that "kids will be kids" and thoughts that "they'll never be perfect?" Well it's easy to have those feelings and draw those conclusions when life gets busy and we don't have time to deal with things or we don't want to take the time to help our children resolve their conflicts. I know, I've lived that way. So in this case and in my own home the Holy Spirit began to direct my attention to care more about guiding my children through these teachable moments.
So right then I felt compelled to dig out a book Anna, my wife, has had for several years called "Don't Make Me Count to Three". I always thought this book was for women, but surprisingly it works great for men too. Maybe the picture of the mom with an apron leaning over to correct her child made me think otherwise. So I began to delve into this helpful book and as I expected so many of the authors points were biblical and things we already believed and did. However, it's amazing how the busyness of life can contribute to me quickly forgetting to put these principles into practice. Instead of taking time to stop what I'm doing and quietly, kindly and gently teach and instruct my children I find myself demanding obedience. It's good to be reminded that we can show our kids how to please God and us. To know that there's hope for an unruly child, any child, and even us for that matter. God has to teach us all how to go from darkness to light so we can glorify him and apprehend the good things he has in store for us. He's changing us all through his sanctifying process. The unpleasant fact though is that it's difficult, it doesn't happen without our participation, and it doesn't happen overnight.
The Holy Spirit wouldn't let me stop there though. I had the thought, "Why don't you just share all your parenting secrets with your children Laura, Audrey, and Timothy." So that's what I've been doing over the last couple of months. I gather my children in the mornings and I simply read to them "Don't Make Me Count To Three". On the first morning I made it clear, "Daddy's going to share all my parenting secrets with you". I think that got their attention. Of course I had to emphasize certain things to them through repetition, role playing, and reminders to sit up and listen, but they actually enjoyed it. It also helps us to include worship and prayer so they can experience the presence of God. In fact, they often remind me to continue reading this book to them from where we've last left off. Now I will say, Anna takes our children to the library regularly and reads to them almost daily so I'm sure that helps to keep them engaged. But the main thing that I've had to do is to make a new commitment to being the leader when it comes to teaching and instructing my children. It's not that I haven't wanted to be or didn't care, but life is busy. There are so many good things that compete for my attention. I can't leave it to mom, the church, the grandparents, the school, the government or anyone else. It's my divine calling right after my relationship with God and my wife. My children need to hear what God expects from them through me and their mother. If I can get them to understand God's ways and his world, then all of these relationships that they struggle with in our home and beyond will become peaceful.
So this is the journey that Anna and I have been on. Our lives are frenetic at times just like yours, but God's grace is making all the difference. Revisiting how we parent is a regular thing for us. We believe our children are our number one ministry and the primary example that we have to glorify God. We're not perfect, but we're being perfected by Him. There are many days when we can't wait for our heads to hit the pillow so we can get another chance to try it again. And God and so many of our friends are kind to encourage us onward. That's the Christian life for us.
Let me encourage you to hear the voice of God for you and your family. Maybe some of what I shared or simply reading this book "Don't Make Me Count to Three" will help you as you love and lead your children. Ginger Plowman, the author of this book, has a kind heart and gracious approach to her teaching. I think you'll like it. I especially enjoy all the real life stories from her family that help to apply all the biblical truth she shares. She comes across as a partner in the faith and not the expert, which I think is winsome. To order the book go to Don't Make Me Count To Three.
Finally, to all the parents and grandparents with children who are involved in Destiny Kids. I've seen some great growth in all of the children over the past couple years. It's been neat to see their Christian character grow. I've seen progress in their thoughts about God, talents, giving, sharing, kindness, peacemaking, worship, prayer, and more. It's been a pleasure ministering to them and receiving ministry from them. I'm certain most of this growth has happened in your care and I'm just thrilled to support what God has called you to do as their parents. Keep up the great work. The best is yet to come!

Arise2Pray 2009
Arise2Pray Men's Prayer Initiative at Fortress Church was a huge success. Many men from various churches throughout San Antonio came together for the purpose of seeking God's face and the needs that concern our city and nation. We were honored to have Mayoral candidate Diane Cibrian join us for prayer and thank those in attendance for their godly influence in San Antonio and for how they pray for her and other leaders. We are thankful for the Men's Ministry of Fortress Church and Pastor Randy Garcia, who graciously opened their doors to host the first Arise2Pray event of 2009. More Than Just the Whole Enchilada!
As we met to plan an event that was a first for many of us, we asked the Lord to direct our steps. We soon realized that He had brought us to team our gifts and talents for the success of this event. This event was going to be bigger than just the whole enchilada! Enchilada dinner, that is!
We were so excited every time we met as God blessed us with the plan for this event. Initially, we had set a date for the event to be sooner however we realized that we needed more time to plan in the direction that we felt led. After the date was reset, many volunteered to serve wherever needed.
On the day of the event, after working all day at their place of employment, many arrived early to help. Others joined us after school! Thank you to those who helped with decor, greeting & ticket sales!
Many thanks to all of the chefs for such a delicious Fiesta Dinner of enchiladas by Johnny, rice by Carol, Abby, & team, and beans by Maria & Gama Flores. Thanks to all those whose specialty was homemade salsa (not the dance). From mild to flaming hot, all of the salsas were enjoyed. Maria's "limonada" was perfectly refreshing!
And what's a delicious dinner without a delicious dessert? We had so many delicious homemade desserts of all flavors, shapes, and sizes! Thanks to all of the bakers! Jenny and the dessert team did such a sweet job serving the "blue ticket" holders. Thanks!
A "MUCHO" thanks to all of those men who served in the kitchen, helped clean, and set everything back in order! Your strength was greatly needed! You were "simply" great!
The highlight of the evening featured the talents of our own Destiny musicians and singers led by Tony Romo. The night was illuminated as the celebration of praise in English and Spanish resonated. The evening was alive with praise!
Tony and Friends, you brought such delight in celebration while many of the Destiny family joined you! Thank you musicians, singers, and dancers! To God be the glory!
We are grateful for the many generous contributions donated for the Silent Auction from many area businesses. The value of meeting all of those who contributed to the auction surpassed the value of the item donated. From our hearts, we thank you for being part of this worthy endeavor to raise funds that will benefit the women.
Thanks to Tino & Cecilia (and those assisting) for their expertise shared throughout the auction. An added attraction were the many great "door prizes" randomly given away! What a great time!
Again, hats off to all who helped before, during, and after this great fundraising event held by the Simply Beautiful Women's Ministry. To all those who attended, thank you for your love and support!
Later this week, we will begin plans for our Fiesta Dinner 2010! Any volunteers for '10?
Serving together for His glory!

Wowed By God
My dear Sisters in Christ:May is here already - Mother’s Day, graduations, birthdays, finals, book fairs, scholarship applications, college entrance deadlines, summer plans, and the list goes on... In all of your endless activity, myself included, let’s remember to have our quiet time with the Lord and keep our focus ever true to Him. He alone is our Provider, our Healer, our Comforter. He is our all in all. We look to Him so often for the blessings He gladly gives. But shouldn’t we look to Him for more? After all, He is our Creator and as such we have need of Him.
We were recently blessed abundantly through the essay contest I had assigned to Angela. You have all heard us share how God blessed her in winning the West South Central region in the “Being an American” Essay Contest. There were over 31,500 entries nationwide in a total of nine regions. Of the twenty-seven finalists, five were homeschoolers and four of them placed first in their respective regions. We were in awe. Our Ang was one of the first place winners! God had shown Himself faithful to us and to Ang. With the media involved, we want to give God the glory. Before our friends and family, we want to give God the glory. We realize it was more than Ang writing a paper and submitting it. God chose her essay. She represents Him.
We have been privileged to study “Esther- Its Tough Being a Woman” by Beth Moore. Beth has brought out some thoughts on timing. Sometimes we just have to wait on God’s time, sometimes it’s entrusted to us to take the initiative and sometimes we have to wait on the other person or persons. When God organizes the timing, things fall into place. And we are wowed!
Sisters, in closing I want to encourage you to wait on the Lord and be of good cheer. His plans do not fail. Whatever seems a negative in your life right now, He’ll turn to good - all in His time. Happy Mother’s Day and congratulations Graduates!!

Trusting God through Transition, Transformation and Translation
I sat still at the computer with my cell phone in hand. In minutes, three words came to mind, transition, transformation and translation. I immediately sought the definition of each word and engaged in the following thoughts…..
So often with the Lord, when we go through a transition (a moment passage or change from one position, stage, subject), a transformation (change in nature, or character) takes place. From that change in nature or character, a way is made for the translation (to refer to the rewording of something) of it all.
Perhaps these thoughts are somewhat “transmental”? (They were to me.) By MY definition of this word of my design is that “transmental” means a “moment of passage though the mind” or “over the top of one’s head”.
Think about these words: transition, transformation and translation. Have you found yourself in some type of transition, a moment passage or change from one position, stage or subject? If so, you can be assured that YOUR nature or character will be affected. This change in YOUR nature or character is YOUR transformation. It can be a good thing.
From that transition and transformation, a translation (to refer to the rewording of something) follows. In the translation of your experience or the rewording of it, you can make a tremendous difference. Negative words can be changed to positive words. Your words changed to HIS WORDS!
Common to all of us are many of life’s “trans” (to pass, on the other side, to the other side, so as to change thoroughly) experiences. Hold on to the hand of God and be assured that in the transition, transformation and translation of life experiences, God is with you. He knows where you are. You are not forgotten. He will see you through. He loves you. Trust Him. Hold on to Him!
“But I trust in You O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” Psalm 31:14
“So I will be with you, I will never leave you or forsake you.” Joshua 1:5
In closing, here are a few lines from the chorus of a new song entitled, “Hold On” by Abandon.
Hold on. Hold on.
Someone will find you.
Hold on. Hold on.
Somebody loves you.

It's Time To "Spring" Forward In Faith!
Time to set your clocks again! It’s not time to “fall” back! It’s time to “spring forward”! It’s time to “spring” forward into a new demonstration of faith as we believe the Word in its entirety. How can I truly walk with God unless I agree with God? Now, a bit of “spring cleaning” might be necessary before the “spring” in our step gives way to even the slightest sense of forward movement. Cleaning out the closets that have accumulated the bulk of doubt and fear is imperative. Obviously rearranging them is not an option even though they might be better accommodated in a place out of view. It is eliminating doubt and fear to remove the very odor that could linger in our lives longer than desired.
A good cleaning out of the bulk of junk in our lives will allow us “spring forward” into that new demonstration of faith. As we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in this, we may find the need to get into some deeper cleaning. It is when we have thoroughly cleaned that we will begin to walk in a new refreshing faith with a new “spring” in our step. Before long, we will begin to take a leap of faith!
Let’s take a leap of faith! Faith moves us! Knowing that faith pleases God, even if we have faith as a mustard seed, we can be fully convinced that all things are possible if we believe. We will also be assured that what He has promised He is surely able to perform. Leap of faith, anyone? By the way, it’s great exercise!
TAKE YOUR LEAP OF FAITH TODAY!
TRUST GOD FOR…
TRUST GOD FOR…
Salvation…for your son who refuses to hear about how you have prayed for his salvation. He will come! The one who comes to me, I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37
Deliverance…for your daughter who is involved in that deceptive relationship. She will be set free from it! Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Wisdom…for God’s perfect plan for your life! He will show you! He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Proverbs 16:20
Hope… for the settlement of business decisions. Keep hope alive! Be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
Promotion…for an increase in finances to honor God in giving more. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. I Peter 5:6

Simply Beautiful - Giving That Goes Around
Whether the giving was an outpouring of love, an intimate time of prayer and intercession, a deeper relationship built through fellowship, or giving of financial gifts, this gathering was filled with the an overflow of generous giving. Such a genuine expression of God’s love was expressed through the women at this special gathering.
The Missions Ambassadors and Affiliates were blessed in countless ways. Those giving were abundantly blessed, too. It was quite amazing to see how the Spirit of God moved throughout our time of giving. All of the women celebrated this special time.
With much gratitude, we thank our dear friend, Gail Hartley, for inspiring us all to increase our giving on behalf of these beautiful women who are serving on foreign fields worldwide. Although the joy of giving and receiving was celebrated the entire week, the reward is eternal!
Perhaps the Lord will inspire you to invest in the lives of those we honored at our dinner. If it is a prayer, a word of encouragement, or a financial gift, be faithful to give it!
I encourage you to meet these dedicated servants who faithfully serve all over the world through our Destiny World Missions web page. You, too, will be inspired to be a part of God’s Kingdom building among the nations.
In addition to the extraordinary time of giving, we had a powerful teaching by Rita Reus. You will be uplifted and encouraged as you take to heart the truths of her teachings. Hope is yours to keep for life!

THERE IS HOPE - Rita Reus
Hope – a word we use many times throughout the course of a day. “I hope we’ll make it on time.” “I hope that everything will be okay.” “I hope that it will rain today.” With the turmoil in our present world, the uncertainty of the future, the ups and downs in the financial market, we need hope more than ever! Hope isn’t optional in our lives, it’s essential to our survival. Hope is basic to life. Our dreams will fade fast, if we don’t have hope. When you take away hope, depression and despair will take its place. In the midst of life’s hurts and dreams, nothing helps like hope.
So, where does hope come from? Hope begins with a relationship with God. Think about your life before you came to know the Lord. You were as the scripture states in Ephesians 2:12,
“That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world” NKJV.
You had no hope, but then that glorious time of salvation came and you are now in Christ Jesus and as stated in Ephesians 2:13, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” NKJV. Aren’t you thankful for the blood? Once without hope, but now cleansed and set free by the saving grace of Jesus Christ you have hope!
In Romans 15:13 we see that God is the author of hope, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” In Romans 8:24 we see that hope is a factor in our salvation, “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doeth he yet hope for?” In Hebrews 6:18-19 hope is an anchor of the soul, “So that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us. We have this hope – like a sure and firm anchor of the soul – that enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain (HSCB). Hope accomplishes for the soul the same thing which an anchor does for a ship. It holds it fast and secure. An anchor preserves a ship when the waves beat and the winds blow, and as long as the anchor holds, the ship is safe. So it is with the soul of the Christian; in the trials and tests of life, his mind is calm as long as his hope of heaven is sure. In I John 3:3 we see that hope is a purifying power, “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” One who has the hope of seeing Christ as he is; purifieth himself – that is, he abstains from all evil, and keeps himself from all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, of the eye and the pride of life.
Our hope can’t lie in man or in great leaders. In Psalm 146:3-5 it tells us not to put our trust in princes, nor in the son of man, where there is no help, but it says, “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God. Our hope can’t lay in our own flesh. Our flesh, our feelings, our emotions will fail us, but God will not. Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Jesus is our only hope! The next time you think of the word “hope” remember this:
H – Help – He is there when you call upon him. Psalm 34:17
O – Omniscient – He is all knowing! He already knows what you are going through. Psalm 147:4,5
P – Present – He is omnipresent! He is ever with you. Psalm 137:7-12
E – Eternal – We wait for that eternal hope! Revelation 22:20

New Members - February 2009
Welcome to all the new members of Destiny Church! On the 2nd Sunday of February we presented these precious people to the congregation and prayed a prayer of blessing over them.
Blessings,
Destiny Church Pastoral Team

Christmas Outreach 2008 - Lantana Apartments
Initiated by our City Quest vision, a team of Destiny volunteers reached out to families at the Lantana Apartments just about one mile from Destiny Church. This outreach included music, a Christmas message, testimonies, drama, food, and gifts for the children. Our prayer was that many would experience the saving knowledge and power of Jesus Christ and be added to a local church. The team led by Mike Ybarra ministered in an excellent way and we did see many come to know Christ. In fact, a family from the complex has seen Jesus save their marriage and family. It's been a joy seeing them attend Destiny recently and growing in their faith.
If you would like to volunteer for the next community outreach contact Mike Ybarra at 689-7255. PICTURES!

Simply Beautiful - Your Year To Hear
This Is Your Year to Hear! With a heart yearning to hear from God, we often begin a new year with prayer, fasting, and seeking the Scriptures with great expectation. Diligently seeking God brings great reward.Declare these words of Psalm 63:1, ”O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You...” May we arise each day of this New Year, 2009, with Psalm 119:147, “ I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your Word.”
What a great way to begin the day! For as you seek, be assured God will speak. Listen! This is your year to hear! With that in heart, hearing the Word is one step and being a doer of the Word is another step. In James 1:22, we are reminded of the blessings of being hearers and doers of the Word.
Have a rewarding New Year!
